£59 Billion Of Waste Graphic

As the UK’s number one hydrogen fuel cell boiler installer, there is a risk that we could be very biased on the subject of hydrogen. If hydrogen does take off, we could absolutely clear up. However, our channel is all about science, maths and truth, not about conjecture. And this tells us that hydrogen is absolutely the way to go. Or does it?

There’s currently a big battle in the UK between the electrification of heat and switching on natural gas grids (which is probably what your boiler currently runs on) over to hydrogen. All in the name of reducing our carbon dioxide output to slow down climate change. Now, the electrification or hydrogen argument could apply to transport and industrial processes, but for the sake of this video and our channel in general, we are just really looking at heating.

This means that this all boils down to two technologies and two fuel sources currently: Hydrogen to power, hydrogen powered boilers. Or electricity to power, heat pumps. And the main reason we’re moving over to this is because your current boiler, which burns natural gas, will release 215 grams for every kilowatt hour it burns. Now, there’s only one real commercially available hydrogen technology for domestic available at the moment, which is the Vitovalor hydrogen fuel cell.
